So I guess it's the old man in me that gets annoyed at almost every driver on the road. Everyone is speeding, switching lanes, stopping for no reason at all in the middle of the road, etc. It's a complete lack of respect for everyone else on the road. I get sick of the "my time/life is more important than everyone else's" attitude that's so common nowadays.
The other day, I saw an ambulance fighting through moving traffic because nobody wanted to pull over or slow down. I just kept thinking, if it were their situation or their child in that ambulance, they'd be freaking out... but since everyone has the "not my problem" thing going on, they don't think about it at all.
Thinking about today's youth and how they are taught non-competition in school, I wonder how they'll handle issues when they're older. My friends and I always talk about fucked up that whole situation is, but now I'm starting to wonder. I grew up with sports, kickball, dodgeball in school... and then outdoor neighborhood games with bullies and uber competitiveness. Is my generation scooting around in our cars to be first all the time? Do we have some programming in our systems now that we have be that one car length ahead all the time, no matter how ridiculous it really is?
All and all, I try not to let any of it really bother me when I'm driving. It comes, goes by, and then it's all over. It doesn't really impact my life to any extent. Bah.
